Pre-Prep

A typical Pre-Prep Day

Durations of lessons will be somewhat flexible depending on the age of the children but will follow this routine.

Morning Registration and Form Time

Each class will have a Google Meet registration and morning input with their class teacher at the following times. The purpose of this meeting will be to register for the day ahead, check on the children's wellbeing and give a brief overview of the day.

8.30 - 8.45am - Year 2

8.45 - 9.00am - Year 1

9.00 - 9.15am - Reception

Morning sessions - Phonics, English and Maths

Each class will have a morning phonics activity with video explanations and individualised follow up activities. This will be followed by a daily English activity. Again, video explanations and follow up activities will be planned for on an individual basis.

During 9.30 and 10.30am class teachers will be available in Google Meet to support and answer any questions that arise.

Similarly, daily Maths lessons will consist of video inputs and individualised follow up activities. Class teachers will then be available in Google Meet between 11.00am and 12.00noon.

Afternoon sessions - Creative Subjects and Topic

The children will continue to have access to the following specialist lessons:

● PE

● Music

● Drama

● Spanish

Each afternoon there will be a video input from one of the specialist teachers alongside an ongoing creative or ‘topic’ challenge for the week set by the class teacher.

End of the day story time

At the end of the day each class will have a Google Meet to check in and have story time with their class teacher. These will be at the following times:

3.00pm - 3.15pm - Reception

3.15pm - 3.30pm - Year 1

3.30pm - 3.45pm - Year 2

Weekly Academic Overview

The teachers in each year group will produce and publish an academic overview a week in advance. This will also detail any extra resources you may need for any of the planned activities in the following week. Please rest assured that we will keep these to simple, easily available resources.

Marking and Feedback

The children will receive individualised feedback on any work submitted in Google Classroom within 24 hours. Specialist teachers and class teachers will also be available on email to answer any other questions that may arise. Please look at feedback with your children as it is a very useful way of keeping them motivated and engaged.

Every child in the Pre-Prep has their own email address in order to access Google Classroom and their individualised allocated learning tasks. The Google Classrooms will encompass all areas of the curriculum and tasks will be organised under daily topics.

Google Meet

Mrs Sutherland will invite you and your children to a regular Google Meet. This will be organised by class and an email will be send with the day and time alongside the invitation.

Logging in to Google Classroom

When you log into Google Classroom, please use the personal email address that we have on file for you. This will allow you to be identified in the stream should you wish to post your comments or ideas.

Contact

Mrs Sutherland will be available throughout the duration of this online provision should you wish to contact her for advice on any activities you may be doing at home with your children.

Email ssutherland@windlesham.com and she will arrange a call back.
